are you a procrastination addict?

I have made photography and writing my 'job' as I travel as well as making time for friends and family. I do however have an addictive personality and I have to work really hard in ensuring that I channel these aspects of my personality to serve something important while enjoying my life and getting those wonderful buzzy feelings from knowing I am contributing to the world somehow despite being a glorified hobo.

"Human motivation is highly influenced by how imminent the reward is perceived to be — meaning, the further away the reward is, the more you discount its value. This is often referred to as Present bias, or Hyperbolic discounting."

My biggest distraction at the moment is the internet. Well, actually, it is doing what I love which is researching, connecting and sharing. An occupational hazard you might say (except for the time I was working with The Population).  But I have realised that procrastination can waste a lot of life - in fact its like stealing time. And life spent dreaming and wondering, in my experience, can take you down a very dark rabbit hole and away from being productive at all. At some point one has to stop searching and start engaging; creating from all the wonderful inspirations acquired.

We live in an "instant gratification" world fuelled by a sense that time is speeding up with the relentlessly increasing progress of technology development, accelerated change and a 'constantly distracted' mental state of the kids currently growing up in it.  This takes away the perceived value of good hard work which requires time, effort and dedication as opposed to it being a momentary fix of dopamine that eventually conditions lazy behaviour and a throw away attitude towards anything.

What I mean to say is... to anyone that's taken their time to read this and has a few dreams... in the words of my Pops; "J.F.D.I" i.e. just f**kin' do it!
